Wildfire & Aquatic resources Workshop #2
As climate change continues to intensify, so do natural disasters and emergency situations that impact aquatic habitat and resources. Wild fish populations which are integral to the culture, economy, and livelihood of First Nations of BC can be especially vulnerable.
We invite you to participate in a series of workshops that will provide space to discuss the connection between wildfires and aquatic resources in BC and explore what work is needed to advance Indigenous-led initiatives in BC. The first Workshop will focus on pre-fire initiatives and the second Workshop on post-fire initiatives.
We will be hosting speakers on a range of topics and supporting discussions related to First Nations water and fire jurisdiction, governance, and stewardship.
Who should attend?
- First Nations Water leaders, experts, technicians, and community members interested in advancing this topic.
- First Nations organizations and technicians involved in First Nations water and or fire issues.
- Consultants, industry, academia, and other non-governmental entities involved in First Nations water and or fire issues.
