Applications Now Open: Climate Emergency Fund Program 2026

Emergency Grant Program

Climate change is having a profound impact across British Columbia. Wildfires, droughts, and shifting water conditions are threatening communities and ecosystems.

Launched in 2024, the Climate Emergency Grant Program is a partnership between the Indigenous Stewardship Fund (ISF) and the First Nations Fisheries Council (FNFC). This program provides rapid support for urgent, Indigenous-led environmental restoration projects that protect and restore salmon populations and their habitats.

Eligible projects may include:
• Wildfire recovery
• Drought relief
• Flooding
• Landslides
• At-risk aquatic species recue

Indigenous communities hold generations of stewardship knowledge rooted in deep connection to land and water. Now, more than ever, it is crucial to advance indigenous-led stewardship projects that integrate traditional knowledge with modern science to protect and restore salmon populations.

Since its inception, the Climate Emergency Fund Program has supported numerous First Nations in responding to climate emergencies.
