Making Waves Report Webinar – Tier 1

Join us for a webinar on May 31st from 11 AM -12 PM PT where the FNFC will share and provide a high-level overview of our findings in the Making Waves 2021 Survey of First Nations-led Freshwater Management and Governance in British Columbia Report.

In 2015/16 the Water For Fish program teamed up with the Centre for Indigenous Environmental Resources (CIER) to undertake a comprehensive survey and report on Indigenous-Led Freshwater Management and Governance in British Columbia. The data collected in this report was significant and contributed to a broader understanding of the kinds of activities that Indigenous communities are engaged in to manage and govern fresh water in their territories.

This year both organizations collaborated again to create the Making Waves 2021 Survey of First Nations-led Freshwater Management and Governance in British Columbia Report.

The Report provides:

  • A snapshot of First Nations of BC water management and activities today and into the future,
  • High-level trends (e.g. G2G agreements and other regional forums),
  • HR and financial capacity needs in communities.

This webinar will present the key findings and is hosted by the First Nations Fisheries Council and The Centre for Indigenous Environmental Resources (CIER).

Who should attend?

  • First Nations Water leaders, experts, and First Nation of BC community members that are interested in learning, hearing, and that are working towards advancing their interests to actively exercise governance and jurisdiction of all fresh waters on traditional territories.
  • First Nations organizations and technicians that are involved in First Nations water and land management, conservation, and stewardship activities.
